French championships of the Marathon: no podium for the LSC
It was the last competition of a very successful season. With a big hope to capture some more podiums… But so goes the race. The skaters from the LSC did not take new medals in Angers last week-end. But they did race well together.
The marathon
Julien Levrard was protected by his team mates with one goal to reach: the podium. Unfortunately, Matthieu Barrault was not in a good shape and Philippe Boulard felt at mid-race. On a tough circuit, with lot of holes and bad grounds, Vincent Esnault tried to protect his leader till the end. 8kms away from the finish line, Yann Guyader (ASTA Nantes) attacked powerfully: the best skater in 2008 opened a gap of one minute alone! And he captured the national title… Julien was sprinting for the silver, but he finally took the fifth place, behind Julien Despaux, Fabien Hascoet and Ewen Fernandez. Vincent was nipped on the line by Thomas Boucher for the eighth place. In the women’s course, Léa Réguer-Petit was also in the bunch sprint for the podium: she finished seventh, which is a good place indeed!
The time trial chrono
Once again, Julien Levrard was close to the medal. After 5kms alone, the LSC leader finished fifth, few seconds behind the third and the fourth places… Philippe Boulard captured the seventh place, Vincent Esnault the ninth and Matthieu Barrault the 15th.
